In all, each door and drawer front is handled at least 5 times before any finishing even begins!

All surfaces are finally ready to spray. This kitchen required a toner coat of lacquer and a clear finish.

What is involved in a kitchen cabinet refinishing job? Well, in this Branford home we are adding a soft glaze to the kitchen island.

First we sealed the entire space around the island, making a spray booth of sorts. We masked off all the surrounding cabinetry and openings. Then everything gets cleaned to remove any oil or dirt. After that, we sand. And, day one ends with vacuuming and cleaning up the dust.

Day two: We begin spraying the primer coat and base coat. The doors and drawer fronts receive the same treatment back at the studio.

Day three: We will glaze all the cabinetry.

Day four: Finally we will finish everything with a coat of clear lacquer, and reinstall the doors.

Stay tuned for more pictures!
